Hi Friends on Facebook and Friends in Life,

I recently began using Twitter (@justdistracted).  I was very reluctant at first because I tend to say things without thinking.  And because I was late in joining I have no clue what any of the codes mean…can anyone tell me what it means when a number symbol (#) comes before a word?!?  Does the # sign mean it’s a popular topic?  Like could I write #justdistracted or would that be cocky?  Grrr its all so much to learn, I feel like I’m 99 years old when I’m on Twitter.  I’d like to know who the oldest person is on twitter.  Ok, I just checked, his name is Ivy Bean and he’s 104yrs old, wow!  You could follow him at @IvyBean104.

One of the biggest challenges I’m having is figuring out whom I want to follow.  So far I’ve stuck to people I really know, sort of know, a few artists and comedians.  Today’s topic is: If you could follow anyone dead or alive who would you follow?  Here’s my top 20 and why:

1.           Martin Luther King Jr. – As much as I love receiving spiritually uplifting quotes from Diddy, I’d much rather receive words from Martin Luther King.  He continues to motivate and inspire me without a twitter account.  With one I would be retweeting all day.

2.           Richard Pryor – I’m laughing just thinking about all the funny shit he’d say about people.  OMG (tear) I would probably reply LMAO a billion times a day.

3.           Muhammed Ali – Not only is he the King in the Ring he’s also one of the most quotable human beings on the planet!  140 characters are almost too many for him.  Give him 50 and he’ll have you waiting anxiously for his next round of tweets.

4.           Eddie Murphy – the bold Eddie Murphy, the Eddie Murphy that was in Eddie Murphy Raw and Eddie Murphy Delirious…not the Eddie Murphy that turned down the role as Richard Pryor…the other Eddie Murphy the one that wore leather purple pants and once had a girlfriend named LILIAAAAAAAN!

5.           Maya Angelou – Need I say more.  I sort of live my life by her words. 

6.           Vivienne Westwood – I imagine that her background pic would be pretty punk ass!

7.           Jack Nicholson – For some reason I feel like he would say some really funny shit.  I don’t know why but I could imagine him being hilarious.  His tweets would be short and I’d always imagine him raising his eyebrows while typing them.

8.          Wood Allen & Spike Lee – 140 characters would not be enough for them. 

9.           Larry David – it would be like watching Curb Your Enthusiasm 24 hours, what a dream!

10.       Jean-Michel Basquiat – his twitpics of his art would be the subject of all my blog posts.

11.       Stedman Graham (Oprah’s fiancé) – Simply because I just don’t think we’ve heard enough from him, kna’mean?

12.       Omar on the Wire – last week he retweeted a blog I posted about him and it was my greatest twitter moments to date (Blushing).

13.       Tupac and Biggie – it wouldn’t be an east coast – west coast thing it would just be Tupac and Biggie beefing with 50 Cent.  And Diddy would be retweeting “take that, take that”.

14.       Tina Turner – she’s simply the best! And I’d love to know what she’s been up to in Switzerland.

 15.       Dock Ellis - Baseball player on LSD…nuff said.

16.       F. Scott Fitzgerald – Quotes for days!

17.       Mohandas Ghandi – for the same reason that I’d want Martin Luther King.

18.       Usain Bolt – he’s the fastest person in the world, he’s also one of my favorite athletes…I just wanna know what he does when he works out and if he’s eating Wheaties for breakfast.

19.       Lauryn Hill – I’d like to write her messages so that she doesn’t disappear for another 10 years.

20.       Albert Einstein – he would have the best profile pic ever!
