The Perfect Lunchtime Read - Thuganomaly
Hi Friends on Facebook and Friends in Life,
Today’s Perfect Lunchtime Read entitled ‘Thuganomaly’ was written by my dear friend Shannon from Toronto, Canada. I’m excited for you to read it so without further adieu, I’m thrilled to present to you, Thuganomaly by Shannon.
“Thuganomaly”
You know on my quest for love in this cold city I call home (Toronto), Lilian has been the consummate wing woman… even from the other side of the country so I fully appreciate her gasping for breath between bouts of laughter when I dropped the T-bomb in our skype session this afternoon. As a girl who could take her closet from Holts to Home Dept and back, there is definitely a range of men I go for… but somehow Thug has never made the list and I’m starting to think I might have, for style reasons, prematurely cut off a segment of the population who really deserve some consideration. Last week I had the most drop dead 6’ 7” blonde man come over to my house only to pitch me a pyramid scheme… so really how much worse could thug life be? I mean really… a pyramid scheme? At least the thugs bring goods I can use! (for legality reasons I can’t write about said items here)
So Lils and I are having our usual check in when I decide to let her know that I am considering a more than friendly encounter with our leading man. At first she didn’t get it, but I’m telling you the more I talk to the guy the more he scores points for the puffy jacket crew. Out of all the clean cut, “nice-guys” I’ve spoken to or gone on a date with in the last year none have lived up to their respective acts… meanwhile Thug-life is actually impressing me (not an easy feat, I’ve ended relationships solely because I didn’t like pronunciation of certain words).
Three cheers for Thug-life! After our first kiss/mini-make out session the other night, he called me first thing in the morning to make sure I slept ok. He actually makes me laugh, he’s really smart and in every conversation has taught me something new. He actually likes to hang out in person and not carry on over the modern day romance channel known as bbm (you know who you are and the random messages are getting annoying) and so far seems to conduct himself like an adult. I could go on; the point being that for all the expectations I have of these “nice” looking guys and for all of their broken promises that creative non-profit type guys are making… Thuggy is actually delivering. It’s as though the harder they look on the outside the softer they are on the inside. Perhaps Thug is the new hipster… hey if RapCity can make a comeback surely I can date a guy wearing K-Swiss sneakers!
(OMG he doesn’t actually have K-Swiss sneaks but how much does that personify this mystery man)
Shannon
